Though wordpress is already a good platform for SEO when you install it, that doesn’t mean that you cant improve on it. With wordpress SEO by Yoast you are offered multiple features to improve your websites SEO. It covers all the basics such as; each pages meta tags, titles, sitemaps, RSS, social media and much more. It even helps you create better content by making you choose a focus keyword for the page or post you are writing. It also allows you to track links and other set other variables to help get the most useful information from your Google Analytics. The plugin is free and available to download here.

SEO Smart Links

SEO Smart Links is great and very simple, it basically turns any keywords or title’s from other pages that appear within the normal content of your website into a link to that page. When installed it adds one link to each page where a title is used within the normal content of the page. You can then modify it to included more links per page or select specific keywords you would like SEO smart links to turn into links and much more. It’s definitely one of my favourites for ease of use and functionality. You can find out more about the plugin and download it here

Contact Form 7 or Fast Secure Contact Form

Both of these plugins for WordPress are equally as useful and easy to use. Contact 7 is probably a little easier to set up and looks a bit less daunting, if its your first time making a WordPress website then its probably best to stick with contact form 7. Fast secure contact form has a lot more options and settings but allows you to set up a lot more additional settings for your contact form like

TAC (Theme Authenticity Checker)

This is a great plugin to use for checking any themes you have on your website don’t have dangerous hidden bits of code in them. It looks for any encrypted code and links to other websites that shouldn’t be there, which is why it’s a good idea to use this when you first install a theme. Find how TAC works and download it here.

Digg Digg

Digg Digg is an all in one social sharing plugin for your website or blog. You can display a large variety of social sharing buttons along side, above or below posts and pages so visitors to your website can share it with friends. I choose to use DIgg Digg because its easy to install and works straight away with no hassle, also it looks pretty good! get it here

Obviously there are many more plugins out there for wordpress, these are just the ones I tend to use a lot and like how they work. Feel free to Suggest other plugins I might be missing out on or you think would be better to use than the ones I have listed above.
